Camping in Alfonso

Camping is fun! And camping food are the best no matter the time of day. My province might not boast many tourist attractions like Palawan or Cebu, but we have enough greens here for the nature lover and camping lover. If you're a little adventurous, you can also check out some of the mountains that you can hike: check out Mt. Pico De Loro or Taal Volcano for two different trail experience.

So for a short dose of farm air, I spent one weekend in Alfonso, Cavite with my family. My young cousin was too eager to go and influenced all of us to sleep under the stars and near farm animals.

Alfonso is a small town near Tagaytay and Silang Cavite, just 2 and a half hours from Manila. There are some farms and rivers where you can still take a cool dip and feel a mysterious calm from the nearby forests. The fruits and vegetables are fresh--much are delivered to lower lands for selling in the markets.

Tagaytay, a hot destination for Metro dwellers, is nearby and you can sample their famous Bulalo and kapeng barako. If you feel like experiencing the rural vibe near Manila, Alfonso is a pretty good place to start.
